Granted, it’s not a lot of cash, but it’s still cash on a D+28 seat.

Let them take out Jefferson for us, then we can just win the seat back in 2010. That guy name comes up in every conversation I ever have about corruption with my Republican friends. He’s their poster child I have lists of Republicans convicted of horrible crimes, and other then adultery or Spitzer’s love for hookers this is the only guy that they can come up with.
Get rid of him, its worth dealing with the Republican for two years.
I’ve always wondered why the Democrats and Republicans haven’t struck a deal like this:
The Republicans offer enough votes to expel Don Young from the House while the Democrats offer enough votes to expel Jefferson. Both parties benefit from removing corrupt members, and both sides look good for putting their foot down on corruption.
Post Katrina, New Orleans had lost 47% of its population (pre-2008 hurricanes). It’s quite likely that by 2012 Bill Jefferson will be redistricted out of his seat to one favoring a more suburban type.
This is off topic, but also LA. Did you all see this report about Vitter going ahead and running again?
